Bay Islands art & Scenic tours acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands and seas on which we work, live and create. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

 

HOW TO REACH THE ISLANDS ?

Redland Bay is the departing point to take a ferry to reach the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. It is located 40 kms (one hour’s drive) from Brisbane City, or 70 minutes from the Gold Coast. 

Meeting point is the Redland Bay Translink’s passenger ferry terminal ( also known as Redland Bay Marina ) located off Banana St, only 300 metres from the barge terminal at Redland Bay. These fast catamaran commuter services depart almost every half hour. 

Ferry cost:  is not included in the package. Visitors can pay via Brisbane Translink Go-Cards or cash.  You can top-up a Go-Card on any ferry.  Note: there is no ferry fees between the islands. See Translink information via this link

Parking: parking around the Passenger Ferry Terminal should be easy to find around 8 am. Please arrive 10 min earlier to find a car park.

 

TOUR OPTIONS and PRICES

Tour 1: KARRAGARRA & MACLEAY ISLAND with workshop

COST: $120 / adult ( $ 95 concession card holders ). Morning tea and lunch included.

I will meet you at Redland Bay Ferry Terminal outside the jetty in front of the tourist information centre & opposite bus station. I will be wearing a T-shirt with my logo or something orange. Please arrive 20 minutes before departure. 

It takes 15 minutes from Redland Bay across the inner bay waters to reach Karragarra Island which will be our first stop. 

The departure to Karragarra Island is at: 

* 8.35 am on weekdays ( 9.00 am on Saturdays )

Timeline/ itinerary (7 hours) 

8.25    Meet at the Redland Bay Ferry Terminal ( 8.50 Saturdays )

8.35    Depart for Karragarra Island ( 9.00 Saturdays ) 

11.00   Depart for Macleay Island ( 11.15 Saturdays ) 

3.33     Depart for Redland Bay ( 3.43 Saturdays ) 

KARRAGARRA ISLAND 8.50 – 10.45 ( 9. 00 – 11.15 Saturdays )

* meet, greet and introduce myself and the islands

* walk along scenic Esplanade to the island’s beautiful community gardens to see and learn great ideas on how to create an organic garden with edible flowers, a shed and a compost, a worm farm and more

* morning tea will be provided after a short walk to Robyn’s pottery workshop and studio

* circled return walk to the jetty to catch ferry to Macleay Island

MACLEAY ISLAND 11.20 – 3.33 ( 11.15 – 3.43 Saturdays ) 

We will drive along the island following the heritage trail and visit local artists and crafts people.

Highlights:

*  historical relics of saltworks, distillery and lime kiln

* Tim O’Shea Wetlands – a protected area with a permanent freshwater hole and a fascinating historical past 

* Tingira Boat Club, the Art Gallery with pottery shed, and the Bowls Club

* short scenic walk along the picturesque road from Dalpura beach to Pat’s Park at the tip of the island

* drive along the eastern side of the island enjoying the spectacular views

* Corroboree Park ( significant to Nunukul people as ancestors used it for millennia )

* drive to Perulpa Island – a small island attached to Macleay Island by a road causeway.

2.20 – 2.40 Lunch food platter ( 2.40 – 3.00 Saturdays ) 

Healthy and delicious lunch at a local home with vegetarian and nonvegetarian options. 

2.40 – 3.15  Workshop & rest ( 3.00 – 3.30 Saturdays )

Copper art : all material and tools provided. 

3.15     Departure to Macleay Island jetty for Redland Bay ( 3.30 Saturdays ) 

3.33    Ferry Departure for Redland Bay ( 3.43 Saturdays )

 

Tour 2: ALL ISLANDS DAY TOUR  visiting Russell, Lamb, Macleay and Karragarra Islands.

COST: $120 / adult ( $ 95 concession card holders ). Morning tea and lunch included.

It takes 20 minutes across inner bay waters to reach RUSSELL ISLAND which will be our 1st stop.

The departure for Russell Island is at:

* 8.40 am on weekdays ( 8.25 am on Saturdays )

RUSSELL ISLAND  8.40 – 11.20 ( 8.25 – 10.45 Saturdays )

* meet, greet and introduce myself and the islands ( sightseeing )

* short walk along the main road to visit Russell Island’s friendly Art Gallery, avocado and community gardens. Morning tea provided.

* visit art studio

* drive along the island to the beautiful Sandy Beach for a short stop and return to the jetty 

LAMB ISLAND 11.20 – 12.58 ( 10.45 – 11.53 or 12.53 Saturdays )

* partly drive/walk along the island for sightseeing

* optional short yoga session ( breathing & standing asanas & meditation )

MACLEAY ISLAND 12.58 – 3.08 ( 11.53 or 12.53 – 2.58 Saturdays )

Drive along the island following the heritage trail and visit art/craft studios.

Highlights:

Tour 3: HALF-DAY Macleay Island tour package  (in process)

COST: $75 / person  

This is an all round scenery tour that includes beach walk, copper-art workshop, and lunch. Suitable for seniors.

 

 

Tour 4: SCHOOL HOLIDAYS Package 

COST: $155 / adult with a child age <12 ( $100 for additional adult, $55 for additional child ). Morning tea and lunch included.

Workshop options: 

 * wood workshop producing a mobile

* copper art workshop producing a flower, leaf etc
